Dental Implants

Dental implants act as anchors to hold in crowns, bridges, and dentures. At Premier dental we use 3-D imaging to plan your implant ensuring a safe and ideal position. With 3-D imaging available right in our office, you do not need to worry about being referred to another location for a medical grade scan or relying on a “guesstimate” with the accuracy of your implant placement.

CT planning

Implants are small titanium posts that fit into the space where the root of your tooth used to be. Implants are typically placed under local anesthesia with little to no post-operative discomfort. Sedation options are available for those who have dental anxiety. Once placed, the bone is allowed to osseointegrate, or attach, to the implant. After this occurs, the replacement tooth (crown, bridge, or denture) is connected to the implant. The new tooth or teeth look, feel, and perform just like natural teeth!

Implants help to support the bone in the area of the missing tooth/teeth to prevent bone loss and mobility of the surrounding teeth as well as maintain facial support of your cheeks and lips to prevent a sunken in appearance as we age. Choosing implants over traditional bridgework avoids the need to grind down healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth. For edentulous patients missing all of their teeth, implants can either provide a fixed, permanent solution to replace your missing teeth through bridgework or act as an aid to snap your dentures into place securely. Implants can restore your confidence to smile, laugh, speak clearly, and eat your favorite foods.
